Disney has started a new policy of scanning fingers of children under 10 years old. Previously, only children 10 and older had to scan their fingers to enter the park. They believe that the finger scanning will make entry to the parks more seamless and help to cut down on ticket fraud.
Disney does not actually store the finger prints it is a biometric technology that will convert the finger print to a number. That number is used to identify the guest every time they enter the parks to stop ticket fraud.
If parents do not wish to have their child's finger scanned they can use their own or stop at guest relations.
