There’s something fun about revisiting a Walt Disney World resort after a few years away—especially when it surprises you in the best way. It had been a hot minute since I stayed at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in a room outside of the Gran Destino Tower, and honestly? I walked away impressed.
A Fresh Feel in the Villages
We stayed in a preferred room located in the Casitas section—specifically Casitas 2. While getting back there occasionally felt a little like navigating a maze, the journey came with beautiful courtyards, peaceful walking paths, and charming fountains around nearly every corner. The grounds here really are gorgeous and give the resort a relaxing, upscale feel.
One of the biggest surprises was the room itself. The updated bathroom vanity and storage space made a noticeable difference. It felt more functional, modern, and comfortable than I remembered.
Now, let’s talk about the fan. If you’ve stayed here before, you may already know about the motion-sensor fan in the toilet and shower area. Yes, it’s still there. Yes, it can still be annoying. But thankfully, there’s now a button to turn it off—and simply pulling the bathroom door closed helped tremendously. Small victory, but I’ll take it!
Why Guests Love Coronado Springs
Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is classified as a Moderate Resort at Walt Disney World Resort, but in many ways it feels like it bridges the gap between moderate and deluxe.
One of the biggest perks? It’s the only moderate resort with a club level option, available in the stunning Gran Destino Tower.
Transportation here is bus-only to all four Walt Disney World parks and Disney Springs which may be a downside for guests who prefer Skyliner, monorail, or boat transportation. And because the resort is spread out among several villages, finding your way around can sometimes be a challenge—especially late at night after a long park day.
Still, the atmosphere and amenities go a long way toward making up for it.
Dining That Punches Above Its Category
Coronado Springs easily has some of the best dining options of any moderate resort at Walt Disney World.
Highlights include:
Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood sits on the top floor of Gran Destino Tower offers incredible views and one of the most underrated signature dining experiences on Disney property.
Three Bridges Bar & Grill is beautifully situated in the middle of the lake, serving up great food in an even better atmosphere. This is my favorite place to order a Sangria (or a Sangria flight!) and relax.
Maya Grill is quite delicious and features authentic Mexican-inspired cuisine.
Coronado Springs actually offers more table-service restaurants than any other moderate resort making it a fantastic choice for food lovers.
And for something truly unique, there’s Sangria University! (Read more about one agent’s experience with Sangria University here!) This fun weekend experience teaches guests about the history of sangria while sampling the four house-made varieties served at Toledo. You even get the chance to create your own custom sangria using fresh fruits and spirits. It’s approximately 90 minutes long and available for guests 21 and older.
The Pool Area Is a Standout
The Dig Site Pool remains one of the coolest pool complexes at Walt Disney World. Centered around a 50-foot Mayan pyramid replica, this area features waterfalls, a large pool, and the popular Jaguar Slide.
It’s also home to the largest outdoor hot tub at Walt Disney World Resort, accommodating up to 22 people as well as fun playground. Whether you’re traveling with kids or planning an adults-only Disney getaway, the pool area is a major win.
Final Thoughts
Coronado Springs Resort at night is breathtaking!
Would I stay at Coronado Springs again?
Absolutely.
I still think staying in a preferred room—or choosing Gran Destino Tower—is the way to go for convenience, but the updates, beautiful grounds, fantastic dining, and overall atmosphere reminded me why this resort has such a loyal following.
If you’re looking for a moderate resort that feels a little more elevated without jumping to deluxe pricing, Coronado Springs deserves a spot on your shortlist.
