I know the Disney Treasure is no longer the newest kid on the block, but I finally had an opportunity to sail on the Treasure in May with my family. We’ve been pretty lucky to sail on the Dream, Fantasy, Wish, and now Treasure in their inaugural years, and we’ve sailed on both the Magic and the Wonder so I was excited to experience the Treasure, too.
I love the uniqueness of each ship, and Aladdin is a great movie! Knowing that this ship was themed around the idea of treasure and adventure, it was fun to find the gems, so to speak, on the ship.
I have a special place in my heart for the Disney Wonder, and I was pretty convinced I was not going to love the Disney Treasure but it is a lovely ship. The new Grand Hall is pretty stunning. I was picturing it as dark and gloomy, but in reality, it’s beautiful and open!
We were most looking forward to the Haunted Mansion Parlor, and it did not disappoint! We loved the theming here, and while the drink menu is a bit limited, what they have is delicious and fun! You must go in and stay a while. Find a great spot and observe the walls, the artwork, and the mirror behind the bartenders. Definitely keep an eye on this fish tank. Ghost fish are pretty amazing!
We also really enjoyed Scat Cat Lounge. Not only is this based on a great movie often overlooked, The Aristocats, but it had a great menu and live piano music most nights. It’s also super conveniently located near the Grand Hall. Make sure to go early though or it’s quickly packed as there isn’t a ton of seating in there.
After being on the Wish in 2023, I found the Treasure easy to navigate especially having a full seven nights to explore! I didn’t love the layout of the Wish and found it so confusing, but it helped prepare me for the Treasure.
The three main dining rooms are always one of the highlights of any Disney cruise! I love 1923 with its 1920s vibe and all the memorabilia around the restaurant. Divided into two separate restaurants (Walt Disney side and Roy Disney side), they serve the same menu. As the only restaurant without a show, this restaurant is pleasantly quiet and lovely! For me, the Marvel restaurant was probably the biggest disappointment of the three. With seven nights, there are two distinct shows here—one is identical to the one on the Wish and is fun and fairly interactive but the second night fell flat for me. Groot is trying to throw a party for Rocket, and the screens are primarily showing Marvel trivia. I just kept waiting for something more fun to happen! The restaurant does have great theming, and the first show is fun. Finally, there’s Plaza de Coco on the aft part of deck 5. I had been warned that it was extremely loud, but we found it rather pleasant and entertaining on both nights. Lovely music and dancing with a tribute to Coco, Mexican culture and traditions, and live music both nights in this restaurant made it a fun experience.
We also had dinner in Palo one night which is always a great experience! The food here is always better than average, and it’s such a great evening to enjoy a lovely adult meal.
Up on the pool deck are some great food options! With more days onboard, I was excited to finally try them all! I think my favorite was Mickey’s Smokehouse Barbecue but I also really enjoyed Donald’s Cantina! This is also where you can find Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream, the complimentary soft serve onboard. (Anyone who has cruised with me before knows I have a weakness for cruise line soft serve!)
One of the great highlights of the Treasure is experiencing the AquaMouse water slide! While this is also on the Wish, they’ve added a new story line just for the Treasure, and it’s simply adorable! I love the tunnel where you see the story line play out on multiple screens and get sprayed by water. My family can attest to the fact that I squealed every time. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Curse of the Golden Egg is the exclusive Disney Treasure story where Captain Mickey and Captain Minnie search for a legendary treasure in the ruins of an ancient temple—but of course, in typical Disney fashion, there are booby traps and other mishaps along the way before you’re plunged into darkness and lots of rushing water! This isn’t a scary ride, but it is super fun! And very wet!
NOTE: AquaMouse can be closed during high winds or rough seas. We were disappointed that it was closed our entire first day at sea, but luckily it opened on our next day, our port day, and was able to operate throughout the remainder of the cruise.
Maybe a little hidden gem, but see any show that’s run by Coriander and Sage. These are two people with the heart of entertainment! They perform a variety of live shows from Indiana Jones to Aladdin. You can find them on the Grand Hall stage or in Sarabi, but if you see them on the Navigator, just go! We laughed so hard at their re-enactment of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom as the two of them played all the roles and saw them again do the full story of Aladdin in 30 minutes along with several other shows along the way.
Oh, and I’d be remiss if I didn’t miss the highlight of the live stage shows—Moana! This show absolutely lives up to the hype with great actors and costuming but the music…the music is tremendous! This is absolutely a “don’t miss.”
So, would I cruise on the Treasure again? Absolutely! It may not be my absolute favorite Disney ship, but it’s a beautiful ship with some great port stops.
